Plysk as a Wix alternative
Wix is the biggest website builder there is, and for good reason — an enormous template library, an app market, and a feature for almost everything. Plysk is the opposite trade: fewer features, fewer decisions, and a published site that is plain static HTML. This page is about which of those two trades suits a small business.
| Plysk | Wix | |
|---|---|---|
| Cheapest paid plan | $49.99 a year (Plysk Basic) | see their pricing — figures below checked July 2026 |
| What a published page is | Static HTML on a CDN — no page-builder runtime, and no JavaScript unless the page has a contact form | A JavaScript application, loaded on every visit |
| Business email | Included from Plysk Basic — a mailbox at your own domain | Not included — Google Workspace at about $6.50 per mailbox per month |
| Free plan | Yes, on a plysk.site address, no card | Yes, with Wix branding and a wix.com address |
| Template library | 1,000 templates across 13 categories | Several hundred, plus an app market |
| Online shop | No — Plysk does not sell anything for you yet | Yes, on the commerce plans |
| Third-party scripts on your site | Not supported, by design — tenants share a domain | Supported through the app market |
When Wix is the better choice
Choose Wix if you need a shop, bookings, a membership area, or any of the hundreds of things its app market covers. Plysk does none of them, and no amount of "but the pages load faster" makes up for a feature you actually need.
Questions people ask
Is Plysk cheaper than Wix?
For a small business site with an email address at your own domain, yes — Wix's entry paid plan was $17 a month annually and does not include a mailbox, which is roughly $6.50 more per mailbox per month through Google Workspace. Plysk includes one from Plysk Basic. For anything needing a shop, Wix is the cheaper answer, because Plysk cannot do it at any price.
Can I move my Wix site to Plysk?
Not automatically. Wix does not export a site in a form anything else can import, so moving means rebuilding the pages — which for a five-page business site is an afternoon with a template. Your domain moves with you.
Which is better for SEO?
Both let you set titles, descriptions and redirects. The difference is what the page weighs: a Plysk page is static HTML with no framework and no web fonts, which is why it loads quickly on a phone. That helps Core Web Vitals; it does not, on its own, outrank a better-written page.
Try it without paying
The free plan publishes a real site on a plysk.site address. No card, and nothing to uninstall if you decide against it.
